All students will be required to do a science fair project. The grade for
the science fair project will be a MAJOR part of the 3rd nine weeks grade.
7th Grade projects are due early in February 10, 2010.
Science fair projects must be experimental, not just a research project or
demonstration. There should be a clear answer to the question "What am I
trying to prove?"

Please remember, the project is presented in two forms, once on the display
board, and in a folder turned in with the display board. The folder and the
display board will contain nearly all the same information. (Flat folders
are preferred over ring binder, please)
What should my science fair project include?
Each project should include a written report as well as a display (which
will include much of the same information).
The basic parts include the following:
Creative Title: "FLUFFY FUZZ"
Scientific Title: "The effect of Static electricity on different types
of lint"
Abstract: a 7 sentence paragraph summarizing the problem, hypothesis,
data, and conclusions:
1. Restate the problem
2. Restate your hypothesis
3. Briefly describe your procedure
4. (more on procedures or start your summary of results)
5. Summary of results
6. Compare to hypothesis
7. State your conclusion.
Statement of the Problem: State the problem as question.
Background research:Summarize your research of this topic from books,
magazine, encyclopedias, etc. This is NOT printed webpages. You must dig up
information and write it in YOUR OWN WORDS!
Hypothesis: Most often in an "If...then" type statement.
Materials/Supplies: This needs to be a detailed list of everything
needed for your procedures.
Procedures:Step by step list of procedures for the experiment
Data: This section will include charts, graphs, pictures, etc., which
show the reader the results of your experimentation.
Conclusion:The results of these procedures indicate that...
How do your results affect you?
What does this mean?
Does this apply to other things?
What errors might have been made?
How could you set up a more meaningful test next time?
Acknowledgements: "I would like to thank Mom, Dad, Teacher?"...who
was helpful?
References: Where did you find your information? List all the sources
you used.
