WARRIOR PATH TO GRADUATION

Class of 2013

             During the 9th Grade year, HLHS students should:

·        Earn at least 7 credits by May

·        Learn how to calculate your GPA and understand a transcript

·        Get involved in extracurricular activities and volunteer work

·        Begin creating brag sheet/resume

·        Meet with school counselor to register for classes needed to graduate

During the 10^th Grade year, HLHS students should:

·        Earn at least 14 credits by May

·        Take the PLAN and the PSAT test

·        Review your transcript and GPA with school counselor

·        Attend all college fairs

·        Get involved in extracurricular activities and volunteer work

·        Meet with school counselor to register for classes needed to graduate

·        Update brag sheet/resume

During the 11^th Grade year, HLHS students should:

·        Earn at least 20 credits by May

·        Participate in an ACT/SAT preparation

·        Continue updating brag sheet/resume

·        Take the ACT/SAT by May

·        Take the ASVAB military aptitude assessment

·        Speak to college, military and career representatives who visit HLHS

·        Compile a list of colleges/technical schools that meet your criteria

·        Set up college visits and inquire about interviews

·        Begin sending in college and scholarship applications/spring semester

·        Begin asking individuals to write letters of recommendations for you

·        Review your transcript and GPA with school counselor

·        Attend all college fairs and research financial aid/scholarship opportunities

·        Stay involved in extracurricular activities and volunteer work

·        Meet with school counselor to register for classes needed to graduate

During the 12^th grade year, HLHS students should:

·        Review transcript and GPA with school counselor by October

·        Take the ACT/SAT again by October

·        Finalize your brag sheet/resume

·        Continue to send in college and scholarship applications/fall semester

·        Attend a financial aid workshop and file FAFSA by February 15^th.

·        Begin a career search if not attending college

·        Continue to be involved in extracurricular activities and volunteer work

·        Accumulate 28 credits by May
