Announcements

Dear Family:
As December is here, we have LOTS of fun things planned in kindergarten-
land! Just to “fill you in” , I thought I would explain our activities and
let you know how you can help:

Sweatshirts (done daily w/volunteers): Start sending in white (washed) t-
shirts, turtlenecks or sweatshirts anytime to decorate w/ reindeer (using
their footprint & handprints). Also, you may send brown or black fabric
paint, large wiggly eyes & red pom poms (lg.) to help with the decorations!

Gingerbread Houses (Mon./Tues. 12/14-15): We will use our milk cartons from
lunch to decorate our own houses - using graham crackers, icing, etc... I
will send specific notes for help on the decorations (please send on Monday)!

Little Elf Tea Party (Wed./ 12/16): We wear green - like elves - and use tiny
tea sets to eat & drink (secret tea). You may send ANY type of TINY treat,
such as: mini marshmallows, mini m&m’s, cheese cubes, cereal, nuts, chocolate
chips.... use your imagination. They can fill their “tiny” plate as often as
they want.

Stocking Exchange (Th./ 12/17): Please send a toy or treat to fill our
stockings. We will do this in place of the typical exchanging gifts. This
way, no one is disappointed: we all get the same thing. We already have 2
Christmas pencils, so look for other small toys or candy or an ornament or
something you made?! Use your imagination!!

Polar Express (Fri./ 12/18: half day): We will enjoy the tape & book (we
don’t really have time for the movie), as we sip hot chocolate w/marshmallows
in our PAJAMAS! They should wear shoes, though, with PJ’s!!

Your children are gifts to me.....

Scrapbooks are in FULL swing. BUT ~ I still need more binders!! One inch or 1
and a half, any color .... I have binders from: Sophie, Katie, Tamra, Brodie,
Hayden, Kaylee, Christa, Garrett, Brayden, Lindsey, Kooper ... Need 6 MORE!

Also,we need white or gray sweatshirts (or t-shirts or turtlenecks) NOW to
paint cute Christmas shirts. They should be washed before we paint them, too.

Ms. Becky’s Kindergarten News: Dec.7-11, 2009

Thank you to the students for being on their best behavior at the Nutcracker
and on the bus today. Continue to be on the lookout for a white (or gray)
sweatshirt or long sleeved tee or turtleneck to use to paint C’mas shirts.
Wash them first, and send them anytime. We will begin painting those next
week. The next week (14th), we will plan several “fun” C’mas days, including
PJ day on the last half day (while we listen/watch the Polar Express and
drink hot cocoa). One other thing: we will make stockings filled w/goodies
for the class, so be on the look out for something to send (pencils, erasers,
small toys, candy, etc..). Also, if someone would be willing to buy stockings
for each (we need 17), just let me know! Otherwise, look for a note next
week explaining the special days and what you can send.
We will continue with letter Mm next week, so your child should bring
something for “share” each day that starts with Mm, like monkey. We will
continue our rdg. unit: Food. Our wds. of the week are: to, have. Review
these words (I, can, we, the, like, a, see, go, to, have) at home. Remember
to (listen to your child) read the little book I Have To sign the book, and
return the next day for a blue buck. Math skill this week: dimes, (please
send about 5-10 to add to our pennies), counting and paying for items using
dimes, and matching a number card to sets (to10).

Be Ready, Be Respectful, and Be Responsible

Talk about what that means and should "look like" in kindergarten.

When you are "ready", you have your bag and folder, and you are well rested
and ready to LEARN.

When you are "respectful", you use nice words. You treat people the way you
want to be treated. You clean up your own mess.

When you are "responsible", you put your things where they go and you do what
you are asked to do. Also, you are honest and you "own up" to things, even if
it sometimes means you will get in trouble.
