Our Native American shirts turned out great! Thanks to Cloe', Emma, Hayley,
and Lexi's parents for helping paint them on Tuesday! The children wore them
home on Friday. We will be wearing them to school on Friday, November 20th,
when I hope to turn our classroom into an Indian Village for the day. (I'm
still searching for teepees I can borrow for that day.) The children will
also be wearing their shirts on Tuesday, November 24th for our classroom
feast.
We are making bead necklaces in centers, so once your child makes one, he/
she will be bringing it home.
I hope you have been enjoying our Indian artwork! I'm sending most of it
home as we create it so you can enjoy it!
Has your child mentioned reading for Ms. Kay and Ms. Kathy? These ladies are
awesome educational assistants who work with our students a couple days each
week. The children have been reading books we have practiced in class for
them. At this point, the books contain both sight words and words the
children sound out. It's really good for the children to become more
confident readers, so the additional practice is great!
News from Mrs. Rampey, our guidance counselor: There is at Parent Support
Group for ADHD, which meets the first Tuesday of
each month at Cook’s United Methodist Church at 6:00. The group is
facilitated by Georgina Hughes and you can email her at this address for more
information, adapt@live.com. Please pass this on to interested parents. Have
a great day!
It's hard to believe, but Christmas is just around the corner! With that in
mind, I have a request. Each year, I ask my parents to support a worthy
cause instead of purchasing gifts for me. I am really quite blessed and I
would like to help someone in need. I like to teach the children about
giving rather than only thinking about receiving gifts. Therefore, I use it
as a teaching tool about helping others. The children love to bring in their
items and tell the class about them... as we watch the pile of items grow.
It makes the children feel good about giving and warms my heart to see their
generous, kind hearts reach out to others. I have already spoken with our
fabulous room moms about several ideas and we'll let you know when we have a
plan in place, but I thought I'd mention it before the holiday season is upon
us! If you have an idea for a worthy cause, feel free to let me know!
The Kindergarten Christmas Program is scheduled for December 10th at 7 PM.
The children will be presenting "Twas the Night Before Christmas" and singing
some traditional Christmas songs. It's an optional event, but you won't want
to miss it!
Our Christmas party is scheduled for December 18th!
