Judy Sweet
Lakeview Elementary
Third Grade
758-5619
My name is Judy Sweet, and I have lived in Old Hickory, TN since
December 1, 1976. My husband, Perry, is retired from the Army Corp of
Engineers. We have two grown children, Victoria and Ben. (Be sure to check
out our family picture via the photos/documents on my teacher web!)
Victoria graduated from the University of Hawaii and teaches sixth,
seventh and eighth grade science in Honolulu, HI. Victoria has a Masters
Degree in Middle School Curriculum and was married on September 2, 2008 in
Hawaii to Brandy Straatmann, a U HI graduate in computer science from Guam.
Our son, Ben, graduated from Cumberland University with a degree in
Liberal Arts and is accounts manager for Dell Computers for the states of
Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, and Nebraska. Ben now lives in Kansas City,
Missouri. He, too, was married in Hawaii on March 24, 2009 to Courtney
Jackson. Ben and his family live in Kansas City.
I graduated from the University of Missouri with a Bachelors Degree in
Elementary Education for grades K-8. I have a minor in psychology and in
social studies. I taught second grade in Sullivan, Mo, taught second grade
at Lakeview Elementary, taught/directed HUM School at the Hermitage
Methodist Church while my children were growing up, substituted and did
interims at Goodpasture, and taught fourth and fifth grade math, reading,
English, and science at Davidson Academy. I retired from Davidson Academy in
May 2005. I soon discovered I did not like retirement! I spent the 2005 -
2006 school year substitute teaching and doing interims for Wilson County.
I was thrilled to be asked to return to Lakeview for the 2006-2007 school
year. I taught fourth grade math for the first two years. I then moved to
fifth grade math this past year. I know that the 2009 - 2010 school year is
going to be an awesome year at Lakeview Elementary School! I am excited about
teaching third grade this year.
My mission is to provide a classroom environment that will promote a
student's confidence and will provide an opportunity for that student to
succeed. I want each student to know that he/she is capable of learning. I
want to provide each student with lessons and activities that will teach to
their particuluar needs and learning styles. I think of the students as the
stars and I am the star polisher. I want to provide a learning environment
that will allow each and every student to shine brightly. In my classroom we
are reaching for the stars!!!
