FAQFrequently Asked Questions: This page contains answers to common questions of students and parents.
When is the name writing sheet due? Monday morning Does my child need a snack each day? Our snack time is for a healthy piece of FRUIT. (This does not include fruit rollups/snacks/or yogurt.) Each child is encouraged to bring a piece of fruit for our snack time each day. The children do get hungry in the afternoon and this holds them over until they get home. What does my child do at school each day? I will put CONVERSATION STARTERS on the announcement section of the webpage so you can ask leading questions and find out what we did during the day... We do go outside each day so please dress appropriately. Girls wearing dresses should wear shorts underneath due to lots of climbing activities on the playground. When it gets cooler, jackets and coats will be needed. Please begin to teach your child to zip if that skill has not been learned yet. Our kindergarten students will be involved in a S.M.A.R.T. (Stimulating Maturity through Accelerated Readiness Training) program each day which involves a lot of physical activity. Please make sure your children wear tennis shoes each day. Tennis shoes allow your children to run, jump, climb, etc. much better than sandals and slipons. What is the S.M.A.R.T. program? The Stimulating Maturity through Accelerated Readiness Training (S.M.A.R.T.) Curriculum is a multi-sensory approach to learning, designed to develop and enhance the physiological and neurological readiness skills students need to succeed in school. It consists of activities for developing and/or enhancing student's large and fine muscle skills, visual perception and eye-hand coordination. Once these readiness skills are in place, students have the necessary tools to be able to learn to read. If students do not develop these skills, chances are good that they will continue to struggle in the classroom, become increasingly frustrated and fail in school. The S.M.A.R.T. Curriculum is designed to help each student progress at her or his own rate and to enrich and enhance the student's abilities in a positive and "play-like" atmosphere. Homework is due the following school day after it is assigned. |
