The homework assignments are written on the board for the students
to copy in their planners each day. The assignments will also be on this
site daily except when I am absent or the system is down. Please check your
child's planner daily to see if they are writing their assignments in the
planner.

Social Studies - We checked and corrected the questions for lesson 2 of
chapter 7, and then the students were given the supplies to
create a colonial village. They have some things that must
be cut and glued to the constuction paper and other things
that they must draw and color onto the village. They were
given detailed instructions on what to do and about 15
minutes of classtime to work on this.
HW - Study the vocabulary words. Create a colonial village.
The village is due on Friday of this week.
Spelling - We discussed the meanings of all the spelling words, and the
students worked on the word cards for this week.
HW - Finish the word card and complete the worksheet for the last
12 words. They must write the definition, illustrate, and
color the picture for each word.
The first 14 definitions are due tomorrow.
The last 12 definitions are due on Thursday.

Social Studies - We read and discussed lesson 2 of chapter 7 on pages 154-157.
The students worked in groups to answer the questions for
this lesson. We will check and correct these during class
tomorrow.
HW - Study the vocabulary words.
Spelling - Our words for this week are homophones. During class, we went over
the words and discussed homophones.
HW - They were given a worksheet on which they should write the
definitions for the first 14 words, then illustrate and color
a picture for each. This is due on Wednesday.

chapter 7, and then we completed a worksheet on longitude
together. I gave the students time to cut apart the
vocabulary words for chapter 7 and had them put these in
their envelope. There are 15 words for this chapter.

colonies, and then they took the thirteen colonies test.
They also completed workbook page 62 as an in-class

Social Studies - The students gave me their chapter 6 notebooks and took the
chapter 6 test.
HW - Study for the 13 colonies test. Students must be able
to locate the colonies on a map and to spell them

There are two notes coming home tonight about the Fall Festival. Please read

We had no classes today due to our Harvest breakfast and our HABITS rewards

Social Studies - The studetns took the chapter 6 vocabulary quiz, and then we
did a samplet test for the 13 colonies. We checked these
and spelled them aloud together. We completed parts of
workbook pages 53, 56, and 59 together.

The chapter 6 test is next Tuesday, 11/3.
Spelling - The students completed workbook pages 39 and 40 during class.

finished reading lesson 3. The students answered questions

them instructions for a thirteen colonies map which is due
on Monday.

We had the vision and hearing screenings today, so we didn't have our regular
schedule of classes. The students stayed in their homeroom classes and
completed worksheets from each of the subject areas. When these were
finished, we worked on art projects to display in the halls. The homework
for social studies and spelling is to study the words.
October 19, 2009
Social Studies - The students copied the objectives from chapter 5 into their
social studies folders which I keep in my room. We will use
these to review for the TCAP tests in the spring. I gave the
students the vocabulary cards for chapter 6, and they cut
these apart and put them in their vocabulary envelope. They
should use these to study for their vocabulary quiz which
will be next week.

Spelling - We went over their words, and the students completed workbook page
33 during class. The words for this week have the consonant pairs
