The fall of 2009 will be my 12th year at Lakeview Elementary. I received my
undergraduate at Eastern Nazarene College in Massachusetts, and my Master's
degree from Trevecca Nazarene University here in Nashville. I have taught
2nd grade and 5th grade in the past. My husband and I celebrated 11
years of marriage this summer. My son Jacob Rampey turned 7, and will be in
2nd grade at Lakeview, and my step-daughter will be a senior this year.
The school counseling program enables all students to achieve success in
school and to develop into contributing members of our society.
Here at Lakeview all classes come to Guidance about twice a month, for 30
minutes in K-3, 40 minutes in 4th, 5th grades. All classes
will have a curriculum, along with a workbook, called Too Good for Violence,
which teaches students conflict resolution.
The curriculum Too Good for Violence consists of four interconnected strands.
C onflict resolution
A nger management
R espect for self and others
E ffective communication
By using these four interwoven concepts, Too Good for Violence (K–5) is able
to offer a caring approach to violence prevention. It teaches that each
student has what it takes to solve conflicts peaceably and provides
opportunities to practice peacemaking skills
At the end of Too Good for Violence they bring their booklets home. Along
with most of the lessons, the students will be bringing home a parent
letter, letting you know what we covered in guidance that day.
