Tuesday, December 1
Today all classes reviewed for tomorrow's quiz.
Homework-Study for a quiz on Chapter 4 Lessons 2 and 3.  Study notebook pages 51 and 52, workbook pages 74-80, and the lessons in the book.

Monday, November 30
Lessons 2 and 3 were reviewed today as students updated notes on pages 51-52 in their notebook.  The quiz for these lessons is on Wednesday.
Homework-Workbook pages 80-91. Study for a quiz on Chapter 4 Lessons 2 and 3.  Study notebook pages 51 and 52, workbook pages 74-80, and the lessons in the book.

Tuesday, November 24
Today students learned about earthquake safety.  Students also viewed pictures of Ms. Horn's visit to the volcanoes in Guatemala.  Then students had time to complete their homework before watching a video about earthquakes.
Homework-Read 226 and complete workbook 79(14-18)
The quiz on Lessons 2 and 3 of Chapter 4 will be on Wednesday, Dec. 2.


Monday, November 23
Students continued to learn about earthquakes by reading and discussing pages 222-225.
Homework-Workbook pages 78-79(5-13)

Friday, November 20
Students glued their foldable to page 53 in their Science Notebook today.  Students then read pages 220-221 to begin learning about earthquakes.
Homework-Read pages 220-221.  Complete workbook page 78(1-4). Get Lesson 1 Quiz signed.

Thursday, November 19
Students completed their foldable during class today.  This foldable will be a study guide for Lesson 2. 
Homework-Complete foldable if you didn't get it finished in class.

Wednesday, November 18
Today students learned about Mt. Vesuvius.  Students continued working on their foldable during class and watched part of a video on volcanoes.
Homework-Workbook pages 76-77

Tuesday, November 17
Today students learned about volcanoes in Iceland, Hawaii, and Alaska.  During classtime, students began working on a foldable study guide about the different types of volcanoes.
Homework-Read page 214 and complete workbook 75(14-17)

Monday, Novermber 16
Today students learned about the 1980 eruption of Mt. Saint Helens.  Then pages 212-213 were read to learn about the parts of volcanoes.
Homework-Workbook pages 74-75 (7-13)

Friday, November 13
Students took a quiz over Lesson 1. Then students read pages 210-211 to begin learning about volcanoes.

Thursday, November 12
Students reviewed for tomorrow's quiz on Chapter 4 Lesson 1.  Students should use  book pages 196-204, workbook pages 68-71, and notebook pages 50-52 to study.

Wednesday, November 11
Students reviewed Lesson 1 today using their chart as they a PowerPoint presentation was viewed and discussed.
Homework-Workbook pages 70-71
There will be a quiz on Chapter 4 Lesson 1 on Friday.

Tuesday, November 10
Students read pages 202-204 while completing an information chart on the different types of plate boundaries and faults.
Homework-Reread pages 202-204 and complete workbook page 69.
There will be a quiz on Chapter 4 Lesson 1 on Friday.

Monday, November 9
Students learned about Plate Tectonics and seafloor spreading today. Students began taking notes on page 51 of their notebook.
Homework-Read 196-201

Friday, November 6
Students began Chapter 3 today by reading pages 196-199 to learn the layers of earth.
Homework-Finish the diagram and descriptions of Earth's layers on notebook page 50.

Thursday, November 5
Students took a test on Chapter 3 today.

Wednesday, November 4
In class today, students practiced using information in a chart to answer questions about the planets. All classes reviewed for tomorrow's test.
Homework-Study for tomorrow's test on Chapter 3.  To study for this test, students should use notebook pages 38-49, workbook pages 51-18, and the circled items on workbook 61-66.  Students may also reread the lessons in the textbook, use the StudyIsland lesson on The Universe, and lesson 1-2 quiz.  Be sure Lesson 1-2 quiz is signed.
 
Tuesday, November 3
Students have a test on Chapter 3 on Thursday.  To study for this test, students should use notebook pages 38-49, workbook pages 51-18, and the circled items on workbook 61-66.  Students may also reread the lessons in the textbook, use the StudyIsland lesson on The Universe, and lesson 1-2 quiz.
Homework-Workbook 63-66(do only the circled items).  Also, get Lesson 1-2 Quiz signed.

Monday, November2
For classwork, students completed notes on a worksheet using Study Island and the Coach workbook.  These should be used to study this lesson on Stars.
There will be a test on Chapter 3 on Thursday.  Students may use the Study Island lesson on the Universe to study.
Homework-Read pages 178-182 and complete workbook pages 62(9-14 only).

Friday, October 30
Students watched a video on Outer Space.  No assignment was given.

Thursday, October 29
Today students took their quiz on the solar system and then began learning about stars.
Homework-Be sure your diagram of the solar system is complete.

Wednesday, October 28
Today students watched a video to review the solar system. Students then continued to work on their diagram of the solar which they began yesterday.
Homework-Study for tomorrow's quiz over Lessons 1 and 2 of Chapter 3.

Tuesday, October 27
Students reviewed the characteristics of the planets today.  Students began completing a diagram of the solar system on pages 46-47 of their science notebook.  There will be time to work on this in class tomorrow.  It is not due until Friday.
Quiz on Thursday over Lessons 1 and 2 of Chapter 3.
Homework-Workbook 57-58.

Monday, October 26
Today students completed a Venn Diagram to compare characteristics of the inner and outer planet.  Students placed this on notebook page 44.  The charts completed last week on the eight planets were placed on notebook pages 42-43.
Quiz on Thursday over Lessons 1 and 2 of Chapter 3.
Homework-Workbook pages 55-56.

Friday, October 23
Students began learning about the outer planets today.  We read and took notes together on Jupiter.  Students then completed most of a chart comparing characteristics of the the outer planets.  Students then used the remaining classtime to take notes.
Homework-Read 164-167 and finish notes and chart on the outer planets (except for "appearance" which we will do together).
 
Thursday, October 22
Today students reviewed the lesson on the inner planets.  All classes used the textbook's website to practice vocabulary and key information.  Students completed their charts and notes today as well.
Homework-Workbook 54. Chapter 2 Test was sent home to be signed by parents.
5th period will get their test back tomorrow.
 
Wednesday, October 21
Today students took notes on the four inner planets using three different sources. We will finish notes and the chart in class tomorrow.
Homework-Read page 158 and complete workbook pages 52-53.  As you read page 158, add to the notes and chart we began in class but do NOT try to finish it.
On workbook page 52, question # 12, the answer is "moons".  This was not stated correctly on the textbook page.

Tuesday, October 20
Students continued to learn about the inner planets today.  During class, students compared characteristics of planets using the chart on page 155 of the textbook.  Students then began completing their own chart on planets as the class read and discussed the section on Mercury on page 156.  We will complete the sections on size and appearance in class later.
Homework-Read about Venus and Earth on pages 156-157.  Complete workbook page 51(7-10).  As you read, add to the chart that was begun in class but do not try to finish it. 

Monday, October 19
Today all classes began Chapter 3, The Universe.  Students completed a pretest to evaluate their previous knowledge on this topic. Then students began learning about the inner planets.
Homework-Read page 154 and complete workbook page 51(1-6).
