SCIENCE:  Today we finished the DVD, "All About Natural Resources."  We 
discussed the difference between resources (made by people) and natural 
resources (not made by people).  We then read and discussed p. 202-203.  If 
you were absent today, you need to read p. 202-203 two times!

SPELLING:  WB p. 57 due tomorrow

Homework:  Finish WB p. 57 if not finished in class; copy all spelling words

Christmas program today (abbreviated class schedule)

of some science gift ideas to add a little educational variety to their 
Christmas lists!  

SCIENCE:  We reviewed natural resources. Students took a quiz over renewable 
and nonrenewable resources.  We then started the DVD, "All About Natural 
Resources."

SCIENCE:  Today we learned about natural resources that are renewable and 
nonrenewable.  Students did a WS about natural resources and turned it in.  
5th period did not have time to complete theirs in class, so it became 
homework.

Homework:  Study for the quiz tomorrow about natural resources (Use your 
notes).  5th period needs to complete the WS.

SPELLING:  No WB page

SCIENCE:  Today we reviewed weathering and erosion on p. 188-194.  Students 
completed WB pages 67-68 and turned them in.  They received notes on natural 
resources that they need to KEEP in their notebooks.  We then began a class 
discussion about natural resources, how everything comes from the earth, and 
renewable natural resources.

SCIENCE:  Today students began chapter 5 and read p. 178-181 in class.  We 
then discussed the word "geology" and talked about some basic geological 
features.  Students then did a hands-on activity with soil and water to 
demonstrate how water can change land over time.

Happy Birthday, Levi!

Progress reports went home today!!  Please sign and return as soon as 
possible.

Letters went home today to my homeroom about our craft day next Tuesday. 
Please read the letter (on blue paper) and if you can volunteer to bring 
refreshments, send back with your child tomorrow.  Thanks!

SCIENCE:  Today students received their chapter 4 tests back.  We went over 
the tests and turned them in.  They will go home in Friday folders this 
weekend.  Because the students were so interested in the NASA documentary 
yesterday, I decided to let them watch two more segments of it today.  I know 
these kids will have a great time at the Space Center in April!

Homework:  Moon journal (Moon sets at 5:41 tonight, so go out and look early!)

*Today my homeroom class watched the live launch of Space Shuttle Atlantis.  
It was the first time for many of the students to ever see a launch.  Cool!!

SCIENCE:  Today students did TCAP review questions on p. 170-171 (1-7) on a 
sheet of notebook paper.  We checked it together in class.  If you were 
absent today, you will need to answer these questions and turn it in.  We 
also checked the study guide.

Happy 40th Birthday, Mrs. Capley!!

SCIENCE:  Today there was a quiz over the phases of the moon.  We looked at 
images of lunar and solar eclipses on the projector.  Students received their 
study guides for the test and worked on them in class.

SCIENCE:  Today we again reviewed the phases of the moon using the "Moon in 
My Room."  Students played "Speed Moon" for prizes.  We then read p. 164 
about lunar and solar eclipses.  We demonstrated eclipses using models, then 
had a power point lesson over solar eclipses.

Homework:  Moon Journal; Quiz over moon phases Thursday; Chapter 4 test next 
Tuesday, Nov. 17th!

SPELLING:  Students continued to work on their definitions/illustrations 
homophone WS.

Homework:  Work on definitions/illustrations (due Thursday!)

SCIENCE:  Today students reviewed the phases of the moon.  They completed 
their flash cards, then did a cut and paste activity of the moon phases and 
turned it in.  

Homework:  If you didn't finish your cut and paste WS, it is homework!  Don't 
forget your moon journal!

SPELLING:  Homophone definitions/illustrations are due on Thursday!

FALL FESTIVAL TOMORROW!!  BE THERE OR BE SQUARE!!

**4th grade shirt orders will be taken through next Tuesday!  Another order 
form was sent home today.  You still have a chance if you didn't buy a shirt 
this week!

SCIENCE:  Today students received lunar calendars to help with their moon 
journals. It should be tucked inside their journals.  Students took their 
planet quiz, finished filling out their moon phase notes, and began working 
on their moon flash cards.

Homework:  Moon journal Friday, Saturday, and Sunday!  Use your calendar to 
help you.

SPELLING:  Test

**ATTENTION HOMEROOM!  4th grade shirt orders are due tomorrow!  The cost is 
$9.00.  If you lost your order form, just write what adult or youth size you 
want on a sheet of paper and send it in.  Checks can be made out to "School 
Rulz."  

SCIENCE:  Today students made bookmarks of the moon phases and watched a 
video montage of the Apollo 11 moon landing.  We had a power point lesson 
over the remaining phases of the moon.  Now all phases have been introduced!  

Homework:  Study for your quiz over the planets tomorrow; moon journal.

SPELLING: WB p. 44 (turned in today)

SCIENCE:  Today we used models of the Earth and moon to demonstrate why the 
moon has phases.  Students put together their moon journals which they will 
begin tonight.  They are to keep entries in their journals every night until 
it is due on November 23rd.  We also started a power point lesson over the 
moon phases.

Homework:  Begin moon journal; Study for your planets quiz on Friday!

SPELLING:  WB p. 43 (due tomorrow)

Homework:  Finish WB p. 43 if not finished in class;  Students with less than 
an A average in spelling need to write their words 4X each by Friday.

Happy Birthday, Zach L.!  

**4th grade shirt orders are due this Friday! Don't miss out on the first 
ever 4th grade class shirt!!

SCIENCE:  Today students took a pop quiz over shadows.  We learned "The 
Planet Song" to help remember the order of the planets. Ask your kids to 
share it with you!  We did a class demonstration with flour and clay to show 
how craters are formed, and we used models to demonstrate the different 
phases of the moon.

Homework:  Study for your planet quiz on Friday.

SPELLING:  WB p. 42 due tomorrow

SCIENCE:  Today we reviewed rotation, revolution, and shadows.  Students 
completed a WS over rotation and revolution and turned it in.  Students then 
took a pre-test over the 9 planets.  There will be a quiz over the 9 planets 
on Friday!  They will need to know the order of the planets as well as how to 
spell them correctly.  We also read and discussed p. 154 and 160-161.  

Homework:  None

SPELLING:  WB p. 41 (due tomorrow)

Homework:  Finish p. 41 if not finished in class; copy your words into your 
agenda.
