SCIENCE: Today we reviewed minerals, fossil fuels, and soil. Students
completed WB p. 71-72 in class and turned it in. We started the next lesson
about the water cycle on p. 212-215. Students received a handout on the
water cycle that needs to stay in their notebooks.

SCIENCE: Today we reviewed minerals on p. 202-203. Students received notes
about how people use some different minerals and rocks. They are to keep
those notes in their binders. Everyone became architects and helped design a
mansion for Mrs. Maness using the rocks and minerals in our notes. Some
students suggested an aluminum private jet, a marble statue of me, a room
with slate chalkboards for me to write on, and even a marble toilet! We then
discussed fossil fuels on p. 204-205, and conservation/recycling on p. 206.

discussed the difference between resources (made by people) and natural

Happy Birthday, Levi!

SCIENCE: Today students received their chapter 4 tests back. We went over
the tests and turned them in. They will go home in Friday folders this
weekend. Because the students were so interested in the NASA documentary
yesterday, I decided to let them watch two more segments of it today. I know
these kids will have a great time at the Space Center in April!

SCIENCE: Today we again reviewed the phases of the moon using the "Moon in
My Room." Students played "Speed Moon" for prizes. We then read p. 164
about lunar and solar eclipses. We demonstrated eclipses using models, then
had a power point lesson over solar eclipses.

journals. It should be tucked inside their journals. Students took their

video montage of the Apollo 11 moon landing. We had a power point lesson

SCIENCE: Today we used models of the Earth and moon to demonstrate why the
moon has phases. Students put together their moon journals which they will
begin tonight. They are to keep entries in their journals every night until
it is due on November 23rd. We also started a power point lesson over the
moon phases.

SCIENCE: Today students took a pop quiz over shadows. We learned "The
Planet Song" to help remember the order of the planets. Ask your kids to
share it with you! We did a class demonstration with flour and clay to show
how craters are formed, and we used models to demonstrate the different
phases of the moon.

SCIENCE: Today we reviewed rotation, revolution, and shadows. Students
completed a WS over rotation and revolution and turned it in. Students then
took a pre-test over the 9 planets. There will be a quiz over the 9 planets
on Friday! They will need to know the order of the planets as well as how to
spell them correctly. We also read and discussed p. 154 and 160-161.
