Is extra credit offered?
Yes....all the time. I also announce major e.c. opportunities at
least 3
times a nine weeks. They are not your typical assignments.
How often do students find out their grades?
Every Friday( as long as the computer works) they will get their
grades.
They will actually receive a printed sheet if they are making
an "F" or even a "D".
Do you accept late work?
Occasionaly. However....never if confronted about it in front of
the class.
Also....hardly ever if the student regularly goofs off. Any time
work is
accepted late a range of 10 to 25 points will be taken off.
Obviously there
are other scenarios like with special ed students and esl
students.
Are take home tests due the next school day even if the student is excused abs
YES>>>>you can fax it drop it off or send it via
friend....OTHERWISE you will
have to take a makeup befor school and you do not have as much
time.
Are projects accepted late?
NO....students usually have 4-8 weeks to do a project. They can
be turned
in at anytime up to the final date. Computer problems etc... are
not excused.
Is there a class fee?
Yes...$3 for any History. I also accept any donations of
items like boxes of tissue, markers, etc... Please see my "Wish
List" page.
Are parents allowed to come to school and meet with the teacher?
You are definitely allowed to come to school. However, if you
wish to speak
to a teacher, you may not be able to without calling ahead
first. Many
teachers welcome parents and will adjust their schedule to see
you but
understand that sometimes we can't. Always feel free to leave e-
mails or
messages. All teachers have e-mail, it is our last name-first
initial@wcshools.com-----ie....batest@wcschools.com
Do students with IEP's or considered ESL receive different grades?
Yes....BUT It is not always reflected on their papers. If the
student makes
a 70 or better on their own, the grade stays. However, a student
may make a
55-F and it is usually recorded differently. This is done to
prevent
students from comparing grades. I also make changes at the end of
a grading
period to help the student. Please stress to your child to ASK
for help but
try not to wait until the last minute.
Why don't you accept late work?
One of the things I prepare students for is the real world. It
does not matter if you are going to college, the military, or the
workforce...you will have deadlines and consequences for missing
those deadlines. I do not enjoy when a student recieves an "F".
I give plenty of time, warnings, and reminders so students can
avoid getiing an "F".
