                            CHEERLEADER CONTRACT
                            LEBANON HIGH SCHOOL

I.	Purpose
The role of the high school cheerleader is that of spirit leader and
ambassador of the school. They are involved in regular community support and
interaction and have a vital role in helping to promote a positive image of
Lebanon High School.

II.	Eligibility
No candidate can tryout if she has been dismissed from any
cheerleading squad or dance team without application before the principal and
cheerleading committee. No candidate can tryout if she has quit any
cheerleading squad or dance team the previous year without appealing to the
cheerleading committee. An appeal does not guarantee the ability to try out.

III.	Membership
    A. A mandatory clinic for all cheerleader applicants will be held prior
to the selection. The clinic will be three to four days prior to tryouts.
If one day is missed without prior approval, the candidate will forfeit the
right to tryout. School related absences will be excused but must be
approved ahead of time.
    B. Before a candidate can tryout, all forms must be submitted
and proof of insurance must be shown. All cheer obligations must be cleared.
    C.	The number taken for each squad will be determined by the scores.
    D. Football cheerleaders will cheer for all regular season and playoff
football games, including those during the two-week break. Basketball
cheerleaders will cheer at all regular season and TSSAA tournament basketball
games. Other basketball tournaments will be at the discretion of the coach.
Competition squad members will attend all assigned competitions. All
assigned events will be attended unless otherwise instructed by the coach.
(This may also include scrimmages, Blue & White games, etc.)
    E.	A cheerleader may participate in other sports that do not take place
during his/her cheer season.
    F. All cheerleaders and parents must participate in all assigned
fundraisers.
   G. A standing back handspring is required to be on the competition
squad. This must be performed at the clinic as well as at tryouts. No
candidate will be considered whose back handspring score is not at least a
three.
   H. Competition squad members may be required to attend tumbling/building
classes. If possible, some of the costs for these will be defrayed by
fundraising, but some of the costs will be the responsibility of the
individual cheerleader.

IV.	Grades
The coaches will routinely monitor academic progress (at least every
4 ½ weeks). Any failure will result in an academic suspension of two weeks
during which the cheerleader will be given the opportunity to improve the
grade. During that time, the cheerleader must attend all functions (in the
appropriate clothing) but will spend the time as a study hall. If the grade
is not improved at the end of the two weeks, the cheerleader will be
permanently off the squad. If the grade has improved, the cheerleader will
be restored to the squad.

V.	Behavior
Cheerleaders are student body leaders. Other students take their cue
from the cheerleaders as to how to conduct themselves both in school and at
out-of-school events. Consequently, poor deportment anywhere which reflects
negatively on the squad or the school will not be tolerated. The coaches
will determine the appropriate discipline. Also, if a cheerleader is
disciplined by a principal, she will also be disciplined by the coaches.

VI.	Summer Camp
All squad members are required to attend summer practice and summer
camp. The coach will determine excused absences and emergencies. The cost
for camp is the responsibility of the cheerleader.
