Invention Convention

Invention Convention is scheduled for Thursday, February 25, 2010.  We will need lots of 
chaperones, so parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, put the date on your calendar!

Contest Rules:

1.  The competition is open only to students in 4th, 5th, and 6th grade classrooms in either public            
     or private schools.

2.  Students may submit entries as individuals or in groups no larger than 4.

3.  Entries can be in either of two categories:
     a.  Games
     b.  Inventions to Make Life Easier

4.  Each invention entry (not the actual invention) must be received by Mrs. Weekes by Friday, 
     January 29, 2010.  This will be a typed description of your invention/game and include a sketch 
     (with explanations) of the invention/game.  The format for this entry in on our school computers  
     and we will work on this in class.

5.  The cost of the invention/game shall not exceed $15.00.  Each part of the invention/game must 
      be listed with a price regardless of whether or not the creator purchased the part or received it 
      for free.

6.  Teachers and parents are not allowed to participate in the actual construction of the 
      inventions/games; however they may serve as consultants to students who have questions as
      they develop their projects.  PLEASE be safetly conscience.  Students ask for adult help if you 
      don't know how to use a tool safely!

7.  The dimensions for the inventions/games must not exceed 24" x 24" x 24".  There are no 
      restrictions on weight.  If your actual invention would be larger than this, make a model.

8.  Inventions, Games and display boards due at CHUE on February 19, 2010.
