How much and when should my child read his/her A.R. book?

All students should have an A.R. book from my library or the school library.
This should go home every night. Students should read anywhere from ten to
thirty minutes a night. Usually the best time is late in the evening right
before they go to bed. This way there are no distractions. This can build a
lifetime of pleasure reading instead of being an interruption of activities.

Do you give a lot of homework?

Most of our work can be finished in class. The list of homework assignments
includes work that might not have been finished that day. If a student uses
his/her time wisely, many days will be very limited with homework assignments.
Naturally, tests usually require extra study.

May I send a treat for my child's birthday?

Yes, I realize that this is important for some children. Please try to send any
food items in the morning. We will have them at snack time. Please try to
support the school's initiative to provide healthy food choices for our students.

options.

Is it O.K. for us to go on a trip during the school year?

Our new school calendar leaves us with two week breaks during the Fall, Winter,
and Spring. It would be much better to try to schedule trips within these
breaks. There is much more emphasis on attendance today, and your child needs
to be at school whenever possible. The school system has tried to implement a
very flexible schedule. Please try to work with it.
