Welcome to 7th grade Language Arts at Walter J Baird Middle School. Classes will begin on
Monday, August 3, 2009. Please come to school with paper, something to write with and a positive
attitude. It is going to be an awesome year.
In talking with local employers I have realized that many students are entering the work force with
limited employee skills. Based on this, I am treating my classroom this year as a business: Future
Fundamentals, Inc. Students will be responsible for maintaining an "in box", a weekly time sheet and
will receive a weekly salary and quarterly bonus based on meeting set criteria. It is my hope that while
learning language art skill they will also acquire skills that will enable them to be successful as they
enter the work force.
