Ask the Librarian
How many books may I have checked out? A student may have 2 books checked out at a time provided the student does not have any overdue books. A few exceptions may be made for students who have a history of numerous overdue books. These students may only be allowed to have one book at a time checked out. This decision will be made by Mrs. Gibson and could change during the year if the student proves himself to be timely in returning items. Books are checked out for a 2 week time period. Books may be renewed one time unless the book is a special request book that has holds pending. If there is a book that you would like to put on hold, just let either Mrs. Gibson or Mrs. Holt know at the circulation desk. Do I have to pay a fine if my book is late? We do have an overdue fine of 5 cents per day for every day that a book is late. Weekends and days out of school are not included in calculating late charges. You do have a three day grace period after the book is due. If you return the book during these three days, you will not be charged a fine. Will we be doing AR this year? We have a reading program at WJB that is different from the other schools in our system called "Reading for Success." Students will still be required to read but will have several options for assessment over the books. Each student will sign a Reading contract at the beginning of each nine weeks that will detail what they are choosing to do. More details will be given at the beginning of the school year. |
