Walter J. Baird will continue with the new reading program that we began two years ago called, "Reading
for Success." This program proved to be successful last year. Students enjoy a little more freedom in
choosing reading material and do not have to strictly choose an Accelerated Reader book.
Students will sign a Reading contract each nine weeks and will be reading books to fulfill this contract.
The books that the students choose will be up to them. Some students may choose to read books that
are on the Accelerated Reading lists. These will still be available in the library as well as books that are
not on this list. More detailed information will be given to our 7th grade students and new 8th grade
students at the beginning of the 2009-10 school year.
