In Math this week we worked on applying what we have learned so far to solve word problems. The
students enjoyed "problem solving Friday" completing a logic puzzle, a multiplication game, and
played squzzles. It was great week. Please continue to encourage your child to work on their
multiplication
nightly.

In Reading we read a story called My Brother Martin. The students brainstormed social problems in
their community and picked a problem to focus on. We will continue to work on this next week. The
students also watched a trailer about two brothers from Kenya who came to America to be doctors
and have since started clinic in their village. We wrote poems about our heroes and talked about how
one person could take a leadership role and make a difference in his or her community. We will
continue to work on this throughout the next few days.

In Social Studies we started learning about the 13 colonies. We will be studying the New England
Colonies next week.

In Science we continued to discuss about deposition, erosion, and geological formations this week.
We also talked about important resources found in Tennessee. We began studying the water cycle as
well. Next week we will learn about weather and climate.

In Language we continued writing a story about life on the Mayflower and on Plymouth colony.
We also worked on complete sentences, subject and predicates, punctuation, subject-verb
agreement, and nouns and verbs. We will complete our story next week and work on irregular verbs.

We need the following items in our classroom: Clorox Wipes, Paper towels, group snacks, hand
sanitizers, paper, and pencils.

Thanks for sending your children to school prepared to learn and have fun!!!!
