Where did the week go?
Thanks to all who came out for our Veteran's Day Program!!!!
We finished Chapter 7 in Math this week. We will have a quick review Monday and a short quiz and
then move on to Chapter 8. We learned to multiply two digits by two and three digits this week. The
students also learned a pretty neat trick in problem solving that I think they may want to share with
their family. Please continue to encourage your child to work on their multiplication
nightly.
In Reading we read a story called Road Runner's Dance. The students had a great time creating a
new animal by combining parts from other animals. They also wrote a fictional story explaining
something in nature. Next week we will work on using resources such as almanacs, atlases,
encyclopedia's, etc. We will not start another story until after Thanksgiving.
In Social Studies we began learning about early colonies such as Jamestown and Plymouth. On
Monday we will review what we have learned and have a test on Tuesday.
In Science we learned about deposition, erosion, and geological formations this week. We will
continue to study these as well as learn about weather and climate.
In Language we began writing another story about life on the Mayflower and on Plymouth colony.
We will continue to work on this next week. We also studied: subject, predicate, pronouns,
adjectives, capitalization, and punctuation.
Mid-term reports will come home on Monday.
We need the following items in our classroom: Clorox Wipes, Paper towels, group snacks, hand
sanitizers, and pencils.
Thanks for sending your children to school prepared to learn and have fun!!!!
Other news:
Please make sure your child is reading and recording his/her reading in the home reading log. We
will be checking home reading logs in Reading class each week.
