I am very excited about teaching 4th grade at Byars Dowdy Elementary this school year. I have
taught 3rd and 4th grade EXTEND for the past eight years. Prior to that I taught 5th grade at both
CHUE and Byars Dowdy.
Education: B.A. in Education, M.A.E in Curriculum and Instruction,
Administrative and Supervision Endorsement (Plus Thirty); Currently pursuing doctorate in
Curriculum and Instruction.
I have been married for 24 years to Richard Smallwood. He is the Assistant Principal and Athletic
Director of Carroll Oakland Elementary School.
I have two children: Layla, a sophomore at Lebanon High School and Anna, a fifth grader at CHUE.
In my spare time, I like to read, watch my children play sports, and spend time with my family and
friends.
