Today is Friday, December 11, 2009.  I hope everyone is having a good week.  Next week 
will be very busy as it is our last week before the Winter Break.  I have listed a few 
reminders below.  The secret word is  math.  

1.  Report cards go home Wednesday, December 16.

2.  Awards Day is Thursday, December 17 at 2:00.

3.  We will be having a Pancake Bar and watching a Christmas movie for our Christmas 
Party on Friday morning.  We will eat and watch the movie from 8 to 9 and clean up from 9 
until time to leave.  Students do not bring gifts to exchange.

4.  Over the break, please have students read books.  This is very important.  Students 
tend to loose gains they have made during the school year during long breaks.  Reading to  your child 
helps, too.


5.  We will have a Spelling Bee on Monday, Dec. 14.  The top two winners will compete in the school-wide 
Spelling Bee (grades 2-4) on January 7.  Then, the top six winners from Byars-Dowdy will go to Mt. Juliet 
Middle School and compete in the County Wide Spelling Bee on January 20. Who will our WINNERS be?
