How can I help my child be successful in their Kindergarten year?

One of the most important ways that you can help your child be successful in
Kindergarten is to
communicate with your child's teacher on a weekly basis. Read with your
child daily and go through
the work that they have done that will be sent home in your child's folder.
Ask your child how they
are feeling about school. Many times, children are great at telling us what
they don't understand or
need help with understanding. Ask them questions, listen to them talk and
encourage them in their
skills.

What does my child need to know before entering Kindergarten?

It is very important that your child has self-help skills before entering
school- that they can button pants, zip zippers, use the toilet independently
and tie shoes. Also, please work with your child on knowing their colors,
shapes, address, birthday and writing their name correctly (uppercase first
letter, other letters in name should be lowercase).
