Pencil and paper in a 3 brad folder with two pockets is required to start work right away upon entering the room. Have two #2 pencils (not mechanical- but you may use those for writing), a pencil sharpener that holds its own shavings and an eraser for drawing. Washable markers and your own color pencils in your own container is a good way to be prepared.
