About The Teacher

Hello! Wecome to Mrs. Belcher's Teacher Page

Here is a little information about myself:
First of all I want you to know how much I value education. Because of
circumstances beyond their understanding children can feel powerless in a
world that often seems out of control. I want my students to understand
that an education is a way to build independence. Fifth grade is not too
young for a child to realize that academic achievement will help them be
successful and in control of their future.

I grew up in Lebanon and attended Highland Heights, McClain Elementary,
and Walter J. Baird. During high school I attended Castle Heights Military
Academy, but don't worry I don't run the classroom like a boot camp! I
graduated from Carson Newman College with a business degree but
later returned to Cumberland University to obtain my teaching license. I
have also completed a Master's degree in Education from Cumberland
University.

When I was in fifth grade I had dreams of becoming a veterinarian or a
photographer for National Geographic. I grew up on a 200 acre farm so I spent
a lot of time with animals. My favorite thing to do when I was young was to
take walks on the farm and find the perfect spot to read a book. I
still love to read, especially before I go to sleep. I also still enjoy
taking pictures, in particular black and white, and would love to have my
own darkroom!

I have been married to my husband, Paige, for seventeen years and have three
children of my own. Our son, Perry, is in the tenth grade, daughter
Kate is in the eighth grade, and daughter Meg is in the sixth.

This may be your first experience with Castle Heights Upper Elementary, if
so--- relax! I really enjoy teaching here and I can tell you each one of the
faculty and staff members here cares about your child's education. Coming to
a new school will be an adjustment but I feel confident that each
student will adjust quickly and, most importantly, grow academically.

Mission For The Class

For each student to have a desire for academic achievement. Each student
should have a respect for education and a vision of a positive future for
themselves.
There are four goals of education: to develop informed citizens; to prepare
students for the workplace; to help students learn to be a integral part of
culture; and to develop personal commitment and growth.I strive to provide a
positive, challenging learning environment for your child so that he or she
can work towards these four goals. My expectation is that each child arrives
at school everyday with a positive attitude and a willingness to work
towards these goals with me.
