A "5 A Day" homework sheet will be sent home each Friday. The days that homework is assigned for are Friday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Students will be able to work on it over the weekend when parents have more free time to help. The homework sheet is due to be turned in Thursday morning. There is no scheduled homework on Thursday night. If your child does not complete some classwork, then he/she may still have something to complete on Thursday night. Please sign the homework sheet before your child turns it in to me. This homework sheet should be kept in the homework folder and turned in. **Also, check the homework folder each night for any unfinished classwork. It should be completed and returned the next day. Study 5 new words per week. Once your child knows all twenty words on the list, sign the list and return to me. There are 11 lists of words for first grade to learn. Learning these words "on sight" will help your child with reading and reading comprehension. Reading- Read with your child 10 to 20 minutes each night. As your child becomes a reader, have him/her read more to you. The more your child reads, the better he/she will be at reading. If a book is to hard for your child, then please read it to him/her. I do not want the him/her to become frustrated.
