| Welcome to Miss Paige Mossman's fourth grade class! :-)
I am excited about getting to know all of my new students. It is going to
be an excellent year...I can already tell.
As a parent, you should be aware of the following classroom procedures:
1) Binders - Your child has a binder that is divided into subject areas.
This will help the students keep their notes, classwork, reference pages,
and study guides organized. It also contains a homework folder, which will
contain homework each night, Monday through Friday. This binder should come
home and then back to school every day. Please check your child's
binder/homework periodically to aid him/her and see what we are doing in
class.
2) Agendas - Students are responsible for recording their tests and homework
in their agendas each day. It will be written for them to copy on a white
board in the classroom. Please initial the agenda each night (Monday
through Thursday) to show that you have seen the assignments for the night.
I will check the agendas each morning. A checkmark means the homework was
completed, a circled assignment means that homework is either missing or
late. I will also be checking for your initials/signature every morning.
3) Monday Folders - This yellow folder will come home every Monday
afternoon, full of important papers and graded assignments. Please take out
the papers, sign that you have seen them, and send the folder back in
Tuesday. Also, the conduct chart will need to be returned, signed, in the
Monday Folder. It is each child's responsibility to make sure this folder is
taken home each Monday and brought back signed each Tuesday morning.
4) Homework - Any homework that is sent home each night, unless otherwise
instructed, will be due the next morning, complete and legible. If a
student does not complete any part of their assignment, he/she will miss
recess for the day and will work on the homework in study hall instead.
Late work will result in a deduction of 10 points. If the work is not
turned in by the end of the day it is due, the assignment will be ZERO
points. This is grade-level policy. If there are exceptional circumstances
for a student not to have their homework done (family tragedy, etc.) please
let me know.
5) Snack - Students may bring their own small snack each day. It must be a
nutritious snack.
6) Behavior chart - Each child will be given a behavior chart each week that
will be kept on their desks all week. This behavior chart is designed to
help students with following school and classroom rules. The chart includes
a list of offenses, their codes, and the point deductions. Students start
out with 100 points at the beginning of the week. Losing 5 or more points
in one day will result in a loss of recess time. These charts will be sent
home in Monday Folders and need to be returned, signed, Tuesday.
Please feel free to contact me regarding any questions or concerns you
have. You may write me a note, call at 731-587-2290, or email me (link
provided on top right hand side of page). I look forward to spending this
year with your child and hope that it will be as enjoyable for them to learn
as it is for me to teach them!
