| Grade 3
It's fun getting to know each other as we sing, move and enjoy "get-
acquainted" play-party games from Colonial days. We sing about friendship,
smiles, sunshine and worms. We learn how to read music, how to sing in
Latin, how to "sing" with our hands, and, best of all, how to throw the ball
(on the beat) across a big dill pickle while singing our friend's name. The
third graders have come prepared with good skills, so there's lots we can do
in music!
Grade 4
An important part of our education at MES is practicing good citizenship.
One way to reinforce positive social habits and behavior is through song.
All fourth grade music classes are focusing on TEAMWORK. Our class song
says"...if there's a job to be done, you can make it fun if you gather
friends together and become as one". To prove this, we traced our hands,
cut them out, and glued them on paper plates to create beautiful flowers.
Our TEAMWORK garden makes everyone smile as they pass through MES halls!
Grade 5
"Design a record jacket" - that's what MES 5th graders are doing. Children
have chosen a favorite style of music, a particular song or their favorite
group, and are creating a design that best illustrates that music. After
drawing and coloring their designs students will transfer their design to
old vinyl records and use glitter to fill in the designs. We'll hang them
from the ceiling and enjoy a gallery of color and motion! To see pictures
please view my gallery page.
Choir
Choir has begun! It is open to any 5th grade student. There are no "try-
outs" - anyone is welcome! Letters are signed by both student and parent
with the understanding that regular attendance is required. Choir meets the
last period on Friday, during recess. It will meet through December.
The MES choir will give several performances. Our first one will be on
October 4th. We will sing at 8am at the Martin Primary School. We hope
their 2nd graders enjoy our program about good citizenship. We will perform
twice in November and again in December. You will receive more information
closer to each upcoming program.
