Check agenda book for assignments each night. Don't forget to sign at the bottom of the page after you have helped your child with his/her work. Multiplication Fact Practice We are now learning our multiplication facts. We have covered O’s and 1’s. I will be giving timed tests on Thursdays and Fridays. Boys and girls will need to practice their facts every night by writing them, making or using flash cards, or having you call out the facts to them. Please, only let them work on the set we are learning at the time. For example, if we are working on learning 3’s, don’t let them work on anything but numbers 0-12 times 3. There is no way we have enough time in class to drill enough to memorize their facts, so I need your help at home every night. I will be asking them daily if they have studied the night before, and I will give them a treat from the treasure box each day he/she brings back a page full of facts that have been written the night before. It must be a full page to get the treasure. ECOSYSTEM DIORAMA PURPOSE: The student(s) will create a diorama to identify living and non- living organisms in an ecosystem and demonstrate how plants, animals, and the environment interact. SUPPLIES NEEDED: 1 shoebox or larger box Crayons, markers, and/or paint Tape or glue Scissors Construction paper and/or white paper Optional: plastic animals, pipe cleaners, tissue paper, glitter, thin cardboard, cotton balls, modeling clay DIRECTIONS: 1. Find a box at least as big as a shoe box. This will be the stage containing your ecosystem scene. 2. Decorate the inside of the box to look like a certain ecosystem (desert, forest, ocean, etc.) 3. Use the materials above to create the animals, plants, and non- living organisms of the environment. Glue these objects in your box. (HINT: If your drawings are flimsy, glue them onto a thin piece of cardboard to make them sturdier.) 4. On an index card or small sheet of paper, write a paragraph describing your ecosystem. Include three facts about the organisms in your environment and how they interact with one another. Glue this on top of your diorama. 5. Remember to write your name and your teacher’s name on your diorama. *Go to www.enchantedlearning.com to get helpful tips and animal clipart to create your diorama. BE NEAT and CREATIVE!
