About The Teacher

Hello and welcome! I am Mrs. Debbie. I am so excited that we are going to
spend this year together. We are going to have fun playing and learning.
When you come to school look for the barn flag and the barn on the door, and
you can find our classroom - room 11.
I have lived in Martin for most of my life. I graduated from Westview High
School. I attended UTM where I earned my BS degree in Early Childhood
Education and a MS degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on
reading. I have taught kindergarten for the past 24 years and I still think
it is fun. I am married to Doug Barner. For most of his life Doug worked on
his family's dairy farm. We milked holstein cows. If you ever drank Turner
milk, you may have been drinking milk from our cows. And no, our cows only
gave white milk - not chocolate or strawberry!!
I have two sons. Dusty is my oldest son. He is 23 years old. Dusty
is a UTM graduate, is married to my sweet daughter-in-law, Brittany.
They have a beautiful baby girl named Bella Claire. Derek is
my youngest son and recently graduated from Westview High School. He will be
attending UTM this fall. In addition to several black and white calves, I have
a brown dog named Duke and a yellow dog named Drake.

Mission For The Class

Play is the way a child learns what no one else can teach him.

When a child goes to school, he carries his head, his body and his heart -
All of these need attention.

Children are people - They grow into tomorrow as they live today.
