Classroom Discipline Plan
We are off to a great start this year. I am delighted that your child is in my class. With your encouragement, your child will be a part of many exciting and rewarding experiences this academic year.
Since lifelong success depends in part on learning to make responsible choices, I have developed a classroom plan which affords every student guidance in making good decisions about their behavior and thus an opportunity to learn in a positive, nurturing classroom environment. Your child deserves the most positive educational climate possible for his/her growth, and I know that together we will make a difference in this process. The plan below outlines our classroom rules, possible rewards, and consequences for appropriate and inappropriate behavior. They are:
Rules: 1. Follow directions the first time they are given. 2. Respect others and property. Be kind with words and actions. 3. Work quietly. Do not disturb others. 4. Be prepared for class. (supplies, lunch choice, use restroom, pencils sharpened) 5. Have good work habits. Stay in your seat during a lesson or seatwork. ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR ACTIONS. ALWAYS DO YOUR PERSONAL BEST!!!
Appropriate behavior is expected at all times. I will periodically reward good behavior with positive notes home, rewards, and special activities. However, if a student chooses to exhibit inappropriate behavior, the following plan will be used as discipline:
I use a color chart for conduct. When a rule is broken the child changes his/her color cards. Students start with a clean slate after playtime each day. You will see a color written in your child’s agenda book each day indicating what color card they had at the end of the day. I will let you know (by a note in your child’s agenda book) about the behavior your child has chosen. I will also keep a record of this.
GREEN – Great! First time a student breaks a rule: YELLOW – Warning Second time: RED – Miss 5 minutes of playtime Third time: BLUE – Miss 15 minutes of playtime Fourth time: BLACK – Miss 20 minutes of playtime Fifth time: NO COLOR CARDS – Miss ALL of playtime and a call/note to parents.
Severe Disruption – Parents will be called to school for a conference.
I will not issue weekly conduct reports, but will notify you in your child’s agenda book of any problems or concerns I’ve had throughout the day and how they were handled. I will also send positive notes home in the agenda book throughout the year. I ask that you sign/initial the agenda each night and make any comments about the day’s behavior. This way I know you have seen daily assignments and comments from me.
The students and I have discussed this plan in class. Please review this classroom plan with your child, then sign and return the attached form below. Please keep the plan for your reference. Don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions about this plan or any other matter. Remember!!!! Good things happen with good conduct!!!!
