We are off to a busy start in 2nd Grade. We have a very nice group composed of 20 students. The group is grateful that our cooling system for the room was recently fixed. When I was in school the rooms weren't air- conditioned. We had numerous windows, which were raised as high as they would go. It was like going back in time to not have a functioning cooling system. We adapted as best we could with the two windows raised and four fans running. It was easier to endure the heat when I was 9 or 10 than it was at this point in my life at age 53. I am excited about my students this year. Our class family is composed of 11 girls and 9 boys. We are pleased to welcome 2 students to our group and to Medina Elementary. Those students are Ricardo Torres and Allison Sanders. They are both nice additions to our group. In Social Studies we have been talking about groups. Each student in the room is a member of his or her family group and they are also a part of our class group. We have talked about the importance of working together in groups makes life easier for everyone. The Harvest Festival will be coming up on Friday, October 17, 2008. This will be from 5:30 - 9:00 p.m. Our class will be sponsoring the Ring Toss event. This is one of the most popular events at the festival. I would encourage class members to bring in as many as possible. Also, we will be glad to take donations from businesses. You have already received notes about the ice cream basket our class is getting together. We are already receiving donations for this. Please send these items in as quickly as possible. Sheets have also been sent home to schedule Parent-Teacher Conferences. If you are planning to attend please send this form back. I will work out the schedule and send back your designated conference time. If you will be unable to attend for some reason, I will be glad to meet with you at another time. Feel free to call me at home. My number is 787-6723. If we are not at home you may leave a message and I will return the call. Thanks for your support.
