Do independent reading points carry over for credit in the next six weeks?
No, students are encouraged to read regularly rather than build up a surplus
of points during one grading period.
--------------------------------------
Is my child required to read a different book each week?
The requirement is 20 points earned each grading period. Students
should average 4 points a week to reach that goal. Those points can be
earned by taking an Accelerated Reader test on the book if a test is
available, or turning in a documention form for each book.
The documentation requires a parent's signature indicating that the guardian
approves of the reading and acknowledges that the student read the book.
Those forms will be given "4" points credit toward their goal of 20 points.
The deadline for the first grading period will be SEPTEMBER 17.
--------------------------------------
What if the book is too lengthy to finish in one week?
Students should average 4 points a week. The GOAL IS 20 POINTS per grading
period. Generally, lengthy books earn more that 4 Accelerated Reader
points.

How does my child get more forms for fiction and nonfiction reading?
The forms are in the classroom in a file available to students.
