My Grading Policy

Grading Policy

* Students can add all grades together and divide by the total number of grades.

* I will count test grades into the average twice.

* If a student does not have his/her homework it will be a ZERO in the grade book.

* Students have always, since day ONE, been able to go to his/her locker if their homework was forgotten. This still continues in my room. If they did not do the work, PER MR. GALLOWAY, they can bring it to me later in the day and get partial credit. If they do not bring it to me at all, it will be a zero. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!

* If a student is absent he/she has two days for every day absent to make up the work.

* I drop the lowest daily/homework grade every six weeks.

Grading Papers

* Students switch papers and grade one anothers in class. I have 140 students, I cannot possibly keep up with the grading. Plus, it gives your child IMMEDIATE feedback on his/her homework.

* Students have the opportunity to call the grade out loud or they may bring the paper to me and show me. The owner of the paper is who places the grade onto it.

* This has been a practice in my room since August.

Extra Credit Policy

* I have a ticket policy in my room for extra credit. This has been in effect since the 2nd six weeks.

* A student may correct my incorrect grammar or mistake made by me to receive one.

* A student may also be given a ticket for exceptional behavior or a 100, but this is up to the the teachers discretion.

* 1 ticket equals .01 of a point added to the final average. 10 tickets equal 1 point added after the final average is found.

*****I do not give ANY other extra credit in my classroom.
