What if I suspect my child has a speech/language disorder?

Your local school district in Tennessee offers free speech and language
evaluations for children from ages 3-21. Call your local school speech
therapist and schedule an appointment for your child. If your child is
zoned for Medina Elementary/Middle then I will be more than happy to provide
an evaluation and recommendations for your child.

Will my child be pulled from academics to receive speech therapy?

In Medina schools most children are pulled from class to receive services.
Students are not allowed to be pulled from library, p.e., music, recess or
lunch to receive services therefore children often have to make-up classwork
at a different time of day. The long-term educational/social beneifit is
worth having to make-up work.

How do I know how much progress my child is making in therapy?

You will receive a progress report around the same time you receive his/her
report card. I am more than happy to discuss your child's progress by phone
or appointment between reporting periods.
