Grading Policy

GENERAL INFORMATION

I am currently using the Nancy Larson Science program. Each student was
issued a black binder that contains the booklet for the current area of
Science we are studying. Each day we read a passage from the book and
students highlight important words, phrases, and other information.
Sometimes we complete a diagram, chart, or graph.

HOMEWORK

Homework is a Lesson Review page which is due the next day. Lesson Review
sheets must be neat, completely answered, and contain CORRECTLY SPELLED
words and COMPLETE SENTENCES (when answering discussion questions).
Students are EXPECTED to use the booklet in their binders and find the
answers to questions. These are graded and put in the binders for future
reference. At the end of a section, we have a Study Guide to review for the
test. We complete these in class to make sure all students have the correct
answers. The complete Study Guide with answers is always posted on my
webpage. I also post any PowerPoint Presentations and eBeam lessons we use
which are good to use for review.

GRADING

HOMEWORK
Students must answer the Lesson Review pages accurately. I count off for
misspelled words that are a part of our vocabulary and/or are found in the
reading passage. Students MUST assume responsility for completing their
work accurately. I also count off points for incomplete sentences, or
sentences missing capital letters and/or punctuation.

ASSESSMENTS
The assessments have three major sections: matching or T/F, multiple
choice, and discussion. The first sections count 1/3 of the score and the
discussion questions count 2/3 of the score.

*All work and assessments are of equal value.*

RESOURCES

I post several things on my webpage that would provide students with several
oppotunities for practing skills. Check out Links, Really Cool Stuff, and
the pages that are about a specific science topic.
