A well disciplined classroom provides the best environment for student learning. Students in my classroom are expected to observe the following rules based on good character standards: Ø Trustworthiness- Be honest! Ø Responsibility- Always do your best! Ø Respect- Follow the Golden Rule. Treat others the way you would want to be treated. Ø Citizenship- Cooperate and respect authority! Ø Fairness- Take turns and share! Ø Caring- Be kind to others and be helpful! Inappropriate behavior will result in the following consequences: 1st incident- Move to Yellow and lose 15 minutes recess 2nd incident- Move to Red and lose entire recess 3rd incident- Punishment to be determined by the teacher including but not limited to a note home, loss of classroom privileges, isolation from other students, and a visit to Mr. Jackson. Homework assignments will be assigned on a weekly basis instead of a daily basis. Students are given a "Homework Packet" on Friday. I will also post assignments on this website. All the assignments will be due on the following Friday. Parents need to sign the students homework packet before it is turned in on Friday. This lets me know that youare aware of the week's assignments and the effort your child made to complete theassignments. I understand that evening activities sometimes make it difficult to get a nightly assignment done so I am giving students a WHOLE WEEK to complete ALL assignments. I will allow some time through the week for students to work on homework in class, but it will be the student's responsibility to use time wisely at school and at home to complete the assignments within the week. With seven days to complete homework there should be no excuses for incomplete work. Late assignments will not be accepted. Students who are sick will be given extra time to complete assignments as neccessary. Also, notice the "Six Weeks Project" link on this website. This project is for a grade and all components of the assignment must be turned in by the last day of the six weeks. Because of the extra work needed for these assignments the grade will be doubled for that subject area.Other than the six weeks project, I do not weight grades. Homework and tests are given the same weight. Therefore, if a student is a poor test taker homework can be used to improve their grade. I encourage all of my students to always do their best. If the student always does his absolute best in classwork, homework, and studying he will be very successful in my class.
