There are several important things parents need to be aware of. Although some of these items may seem trivial, they really do make a difference in your child’s attitude, success and safety at school. Keep this note handy for future reference. LUNCH MONEY: Please send all lunch money in an envelope with your child’s name, cafeteria number and amount enclosed printed on the front. Make all checks payable to MES. You may pay your child’s lunch weekly or monthly. The amount for the both will be located at the top of the lunch menu which is handed out at the end of every month. LUNCH TIME: Our lunch time is scheduled for 11:25-11:55. You are welcome to come and eat with your child! AGENDAS: Your child will write in his/her agenda daily. Please look at the agenda each day and initial or sign it. The agenda will be our form of communication for the year. If you have a note, I will look for it here. I will also write any notes that I may have in it also. FOLDERS: Your child’s folder should be brought home each day and it should return to school the next morning. Please check the folder daily for homework or important handouts. Each side of the folder will be labeled to inform you whether to keep it or return it. STOPLIGHT SHEETS: Behavior stoplight sheets should be returned each Monday or the beginning of each week. I will record your child’s behavior for the day on the sheet. I expect you to look and initial this daily. The sheets will be placed in the front pocket of your child’s agenda. GETTING HOME: Anytime your child will be going home other than his/her usual way, please send me a note to let me know. BIRTHDAYS: Birthdays are important to kindergarten students. I like to make these days special for students. If you like to provide a small treat for the class it will be welcome, but it is not mandatory. Please just send me a note letting me know when you would like to celebrate when your child’s birthday comes around. SNACKS: Each child will be responsible for bringing their own snack for the day to school. Please try and send something that is healthy. SCHOOL DAY: The school doors open at 7:00. If your child arrives between 7:00-7:25, they will need to be dropped off at the playroom. Students are dismissed from the playroom at 7:25 to go to their classrooms. The school day begins at 7:50. If your child arrives after this time, he will be considered tardy. BREAKFAST: Breakfast is served in the kindergarten classrooms free of charge. It t is served from 7:25-8:00 daily. RELATED ARTS: Your child will attend related arts each day from 9-10. On P.E. days, please make sure your child wears tennis shoes. Mondays: Art/Mussic Tuesdays: P.E. Wednesdays: Guidance Thursdays: Library Fridays: P.E. NEWSLETTERS: I will send home a weekly newsletter at the end of each week. The newsletter will have important upcoming homework, lessons and events. It will also be posted on our class website. CANTEEN: Students are allowed to go and buy items at canteen only if they have kept green lights on the stoplight sheet all week. Canteen is on Fridays and the students may bring no more than $2 to spend. Please put their money in an envelope with their name on it. (I will send a note letting you know when kindergarten will begin canteen.
