Milan Elementary School has three computer labs: the BLAST Lab, the REACH
Lab, and the Technology Lab.
The BLAST Lab serves students in kindergarten and first grade, while students
in second through fourth grade go to our REACH Lab. Every MES student K-4
visits either the BLAST Lab or the REACH Lab at least once a week. These labs
are staffed by instructional assistants who help teachers find appropriate
software and websites to support and enhance skills being taught in the
classroom.
In addition, every student K-4 also attends the Technology Lab once every two
weeks. In the Tech Lab, students are taught keyboarding, how to safely
search the internet, and how to use different software applications such as
KidPix, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
We also have an Interactive Lab, which is equipped with a teacher computer
and projector, an interactive whiteboard, and student response systems. Many
teachers make use of technology in this lab in addition to their regularly
scheduled computer lab times.
Most classrooms have 2-3 student computers, as well as the teacher's computer
workstation. Student computers are used to take AR tests, practice academic
skills, write stories, do research, etc.
The homepage on all student computers at Milan Elementary School
is our school's iKeepBookmarks page. It contains links to most
of the sites your child will visit while at school. You can
access this site from any computer.
