Course Description:
United States History is a survey of American History that focuses on the
period from 1877 to the present in preparation for the End of Course Test.
This course begins with a brief introduction and review of the period from the
founding of the United States until 1877. It is a survey course with extensive
chronological coverage of a broad variety of topics in American History. Time
management is an essential skill for this class, and the student must take
responsibility for budgeting their own time (both in and outside of school).
As you become accustomed to the format, pace and depth of the class, things
will fall in to place. It is important not to become discouraged early in the
course (many have successfully trod this same path before you). The two most
important success factors in this class are consistent effort and improvement.
Assessment:
• All assessment will be common and cumulative.
• Three objective tests will be given each nine weeks.
• Students will also complete objective mid-term and final exams.
