As a small child, I used to play school in our attic. I can remember having
a chalkboard, old books, paper, pencils, grade book, and a table full of
dolls that I taught to. I always knew I wanted to be a teacher. The good
Lord blessed me with this opportunity.
I graduated from Lambuth University, Jackson, TN, with a degree in
Elementary Education. I completed this task after getting married and
having my sweet daughter. Holding my "bundle of joy," I knew I had to
finish college in hopes of setting an example for her. I feared that I
wouldn't be able to encourage her to go for her dreams, if I didn't see mine
through. I graduated from Lambuth at the age of 33 with the biggest smile
on my face you have ever seen. The best part was knowing that my family,
including my sweet girl, and friends were watching me receive my diploma.
Yea! It is never to late!
I've been teaching at MJE for 11 years. I was hired in to teach 6th grade.
I had the opportunity to teach Math which is probably my favorite subject.
I really wanted to work with the younger children and luckily a posistion
opened up which allowed me to go to 2nd grade. I taught 2nd grade for
several years which I enjoyed tremendously. Six years ago, my daughter
was moving up to 4th grade and I had an oppotunity to move up and work with
one of my favorite people, Mrs. Grisham. I made the change and have really
enjoyed it. My first two years in fourth grade provided me with the
opportunity to work with former students. This was a wonderful experience.
There are several things that I enjoy outside of the classroom. I love to
be outside. I enjoy being out on the farm and working out in the yard. I
also love being on the lake, and in the past few years, learned to fish. I
enjoy good music and food. I enjoy being with my friends and family. I
enjoy being a Mom to my sweet girl and my beloved pets: two dogs, a Golden
Retrevier and a Boxer, and two cats. My favorite place to vacation is on
Destin's beautiful white beach.
I hope to provide my students with a warm, friendly, and encouraging
learning environment. I hope my students walk away knowing that not only
did they grow academically, but that they grew as a person as well. I hope
to be the kind of teacher that always promotes each child to do their best
and when they look back on me, they will always know that I believed in them
and cared for them too.
