ANNOUNCEMENTS

WEEKLY MEMO -

RED HOT READER AR PARTY: We will be having our Ar party for all students who
have met their AR goal for this sememster, on Friday December 11. This will
be during students lunch time. Congratulations to all students and keep up
the hard work.

SOCKS: For the next few weeks in Reading class, students be will reading the
novel “The Family Under the Bridge” by Natalie Savage Carlson. This is a
Christmas story of a homeless man who must reevaluate his life after he meets
a family who is on the streets because of tough circumstances. The themes of
this story revolve around homelessness, family, and change of heart.

In the spirit of the holidays, we will be decorating our class tree with new
socks that will be donated to the needy. All sizes of socks are needed. They
will be combined with items from other classrooms to provide care packages
for the Timberline Campground in Wilson County. Students are not required to
donate as this is a voluntary activity to provide an opportunity to help the
less fortunate.

Happy Holidays, and as always thank you for your support!

PANCAKE BREAKFAST: We will be having a holiday pancake breakfast on December
18, 2009 from 7:30-8:30. A note was sent home in students Monday folders.
Please return the form by Friday Dec. 11. Parents are invited to attend.

RECORDERS FOR MUSIC: Please make sure your child brings a recorder to music
class. If your student doesn't have one from 4th grade, one may be purchased
through Ms. Dickens. It is difficult to learn the skills being taught if
students are not prepared. Not being prepared for music is like not bringing
a pencil to math class.

AGENDAS:
Please sign the agenda every night. This is a great communication tool for
teachers as well as parents to mark the progress of your student. Each
teacher has a different color of ink they correspond in. Missing
assignments and also daily behavior are noted in the agenda. If you see
that your child is receiving a lot of marks you may want to contact me to
set up a conference.

WEEKLY FOLDERS:
There will be a lot of information coming home in the weekly folders on
Mondays. Please review, sign and return the empty folder and any papers
that need to be returned to school on Tuesday
