First Grade Daily Procedures Lunch Money: Please send lunch ticket money on Monday for the week ($7.50). Place money in an envelope with your child’s name and teacher’s name on the outside of the envelope and place in the money pouch of the BEARS Notebook. We prefer that children buy lunch tickets rather than bring money daily. If daily money is brought, children are responsible for keeping up with their lunch money and change. No Lunch Money or Lunch Box: Children are not allowed to charge their lunch. They will be given a peanut butter sandwich and milk. This is a school-wide policy. Please discuss the importance of keeping up with lunch money. Any Other Money: Please send any other money to school in an envelope with the child’s name, teacher’s name, and the purpose of the money. Please do not include any other money in with your lunch money check. We are unable to make change and cannot leave our classroom to go find change. Thank you for your cooperation in advance. Snacks: We eat lunch daily at 10:55. Time will be provided in the morning for children to eat their snack. You may send a snack for your child each day. We have found it very helpful if snacks are placed in plastic bags or containers. We will only be drinking water during snack time (from the water fountain or brought from home). Please do not send juice boxes, they are high in sugar and often promote frequent trips to the bathroom. We encourage you to send healthy snacks – please no cake, candy, chocolate, and gum, etc. Birthdays: If you would like to bring refreshments to celebrate your child’s birthday in the classroom – please feel free to do so- but please let us know one day in advance. Please note the suggestion: We have noticed that children get tired of cupcakes and are very excited when something new is brought for a birthday (cookies, fruit, donuts, etc.). BEARS Notebooks: Please make sure your child brings their BEARS Notebook each day. It is the parent’s responsibility to check the BEARS Notebook for behavior purposes each night. It is the child’s responsibility to complete the homework and return the BEARS Notebook each day. Please let me know that you are checking the BEARS Notebook by initialing that day’s date on the behavior sheet. Treat Box: Students will be able to get a treat from the treat box if he/she earns 5 green dots for the week. This means he/she does not pull a bear for breaking our classroom rules. Supplies: Students can purchase their supplies from the MJE bookstore (across from the gym) or they may be bought elsewhere. Please label all tablets, school boxes, scissors, and glue bottles in permanent ink before to sending to schools. Your child will need tablet paper, pencils, crayons, scissors and glue everyday for the activities we will be doing in the classroom. Dismissal: Students riding buses will be taken out to the appropriate loading posts. First grade car riders will be brought out at 2:15. Please enter from the back of the school only. We will bring them to the car and have them seated as safely as possible. If your child is going home a way that is different than usual – please send a note. We will not allow a student to go home an alternate way without a note from home or the office. In the event of snow, please let us know how your child is to get home by writing it on the front pocket of the daily folder. This is very helpful for us. Expectations: Our students are expected to respect all adults in our school and their authority while at school. Please encourage your child to always be and do their best.
