Do students have homework every night?

Students have classwork every day. They do not have homework.
If, however, your student has a computer at home we encourage
them to practice their typing skills at home.

How does a student get assignments if they have been absent?

If a student is absent they should see me to find out what
they've missed. If the absence is excused they may come in early
before school or stay late after school to make up their work.
The absence will not affect their grade as long as they make up
their work. Even if the absence is unexcused the student should
see me to find out what they missed, although will receive a zero
for the day.

Do you accept late work?

Because all work is done in class using special software and must
be saved to the school computer, if a student is absent there is
no practical way for them to make up missing or late work at
home. If the absence is excused they may come in early before
school or stay late after school to make up their work. The
absence will not affect their grade as long as they make up their
work. If the absence is unexcused the student will receive a
zero for the day.

Do students have an opportunity to work on homework at school?

Time will be given during class to work on class work. There may
be occasions such as when the power goes off that students will
have an opportunity to do homework for other classes. Students
should never come to class without a book or some homework to
keep them occupied if the computer system is down.

How can I get in touch with you?

There are a number of ways that I will try to keep in touch. The
best way is to email me at easterlingw@wcschools.com. You can
also call the school and leave a message. I will try to return
your call by the next day. Work and notices of upcoming tests
are posted on the board every day and should be copied by the
students into their agendas. I encourage you to read and
initial their agendas regularly. Grades will be sent home each
mid-nine week period and report cards will be issued at the end
of each nine weeks.
