About The Teacher

I was born in Virginia where my father worked for the CIA. He left the CIA
to work for Westinghouse where he was the engineer in charge of constructing
nuclear power plants for the first nuclear submarines. This resulted in my
family moving first to Pennsylvania and then to New Jersy. He then returned
to the CIA so we moved back to Virginia, and then to Taiwan and back to
Virginia. As a result of the moves I went to a different school every year
between Kindergarten and 11th grade.

I went to Catawba College in North Carolina where I majored in biology and
anthropology. After graduation I returned to Virginia before I accepted a
position with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as a Park Ranger and
biologist. I retired from the Corps after 30 years of Federal service to
begin a second career as a middle school teacher.

I am a life long learner with degrees in biology, anthropology, English, and
education. I am married and have 2 daughters. My wife, Nancy, is a legal
assistant for Waller, Lansden in Nashville. My oldest daughter, Erin, is
in the nursing program at MTSU. My youngest daughter attends Wilson Central
High School. I enjoy reading and watching science fiction, fantasy, and
crime or CSI shows.
