Mrs. Wood started her teaching career in Florida. She taught in a Middle
School there. When her family moved to Tennessee, she started teaching at
Mt. Juliet JR High. She now teaches English and Reading at Mt.
Juliet Middle School.
She has several other interests which include reading, sewing, playing with
her seven grandchildren. She is originally from Missouri although her
husband was born in Lebanon, Tennessee.
Mrs. Wood is the faculty sponsor for the Mt. Juliet Middle School Builders
Club. They meet every week. Meeting times are announced. This club
is a service club which does fund raising and service projects to help
children,
school and community.
My goal is for each student to become an articulate user of language, both
written and spoken. Writing and reading are the basics. Language skills,
such as usage, spelling, punctuation, vocabulary and sentence structure will
be taught through the individualized reading and writing of your child. I
will create an atmosphere in my classroom where natural and purposeful
reading, writing, speaking and listening take place.
Writing is thinking. We will be doing a lot of thinking as we learn to
manipulate language. Most of the writing will be done in class and we will
write in several different genres, i.e., narrative, persuasive, and
expository. Reading and writing go hand in hand; so, we will be larning
from the authors we are reading.
Mrs. Wood has been selected as Teacher of the Year from our school twice and
received the Apple4theTeacher Award from Channel 4.
