What do I need to know about homework?

Every Monday English I students will receive a Vocabulary Packet. These
packets are due on Friday. I do NOT accept these packets late unless the
student has an excused absence, in which case the packet is due upon the
student's return. Students will be tested over the vocabulary words on all
packets each week.

Other Homework?

Students will usually have a project to be working on. I give handouts,
oral instructions, and visual examples of all projects. Students have ample
time to complete projects; therefore, grading will reflect time and effort.
Projects count in the 50% category of my grade scale.

Vocabulary Folders

Students keep a prong type folder and they are to hand write all vocabulary
words and definitions and keep these in a folder. After every 50 words, I
grade the folders. Folders go in the project category of my grade scale.
Every 5 weeks students have a review test over all previous words and the
folder is the primary source of study for the semester exam.

What if student misses a day

It is the student's responsibility to ask for all make up work. I follow
the Roane County Schools make up work policy which you can find in the
student handbook. All tests must by made up after school, not during class
time.

Late work?

Some work I do not accept late: Vocabulary packets or class work. Projects
and Vocabulary Folders will receive a 10 point per day late penalty,
including weekends. AP classes have a different late work policy which is
written in my AP class syllabi.
