Special Projects

Free Choice Book Report Project

1.
Choose a favorite “just right” book. It can be either fiction or non-
fiction. It’s YOUR choice! :-) (You can pick a book out from our classroom
library, the school library, or a public library.)

2.
Read your book.

3.
Write an eight-sentence summary about your book. (Be sure to tell about all
the major events and characters in your story; or, if it is non-fiction, be
sure to give some fun or interesting facts about the subject of the book.
You do not need to number the sentences.)

4.
Create a bookmark for your book. The bookmark can show a scene from your
story’s setting, a character that you liked, or an important event.
Bookmarks usually measure about 2 inches across/wide and 7-8 inches
down/long, but there is certainly room for differences in size. Using a
thicker paper, like construction paper or lightweight cardboard, will
probably be best.

5.
Prepare a short (three minute) presentation about your book. Try to
memorize your presentation; however, you can make notes on cards if you want
and use these during your presentation.

6.
Bring your bookmark and summary to school on Tuesday, May 20.

7.
Make your presentation and display your bookmark.

8.
Listen to the applause from your classmates and teacher.

9.
Bow.

That’s it, boys and girls!
