About the Teacher

Mekea Johnson

A little about me...

My name is Mekea Johnson and this is my 3rd year at Richland. Before moving
to Memphis we lived in St. Louis where I taught 3rd grade and then was an
elementary school librarian. I have fallen in love with the teachers and
families of Richland and I consider it a blessing to be here!

My degree in Early Childhood Education is from Webster University. My heart is
with early childhood (PK-3) and I feel that second grade is the year where
students grow the most.

I have been married for 15 years to my husband, Daniel. We have 2 girls:
Olivia (9), and Audrey (6).
A little more about me...
I love to read and spend time with my family.
My favorite vacation spot is the beach!
I am easy going and easy to get along with.
I am incredibly introverted and love alone time.
I LOVE to laugh and have fun.
My favorite places to shop are Lululemon and Target.
My favorite restaurants are Wasabi and the Whole Foods salad bar.
One of the most relaxing things for me is getting a massage.
My favorite drinks are half unsweetened tea/ half diet lemonade from
Chick-fil-a and coffee.

I know this will be an amazing year and I am excited to be a part of helping
this group of students develop into life-long learners!
