Dress Code

                        ROGERSVILLE CITY SCHOOL
                         DRESS CODE GUIDELINES
                         (Grades 4-8) 2008-09

Rogersville City School believes that all school experiences should be
positive and strives to provide environments that are conducive to
learning. Standards in academics, behavior, and dress are maintained in
order to achieve successful learning, to contribute to future success as
members of society, and to ensure the common goal of the school community.

	Our dress code seeks to:

1.	Enhance the educational process
2.	Maintain a positive learning and teaching climate
3.	Foster health, safety, and decency
4.	Create an environment free of intimidation, harassment, and violence
5.	Prepare for life outside of and beyond school
6.	Promote respect for self and others
7.	Provide an objective standard of dress, thereby preventing arbitrary
and biased judgments against individual students.

It is the responsibility of the students, parents/guardians,
teachers, and administration to see that the dress appearance of no pupil
shall be extreme to the point of creating a disturbance or is hazardous to
one ’s self, others, or school property. Our goal is not to inconvenience
parents/guardians at home or at work during the school day, therefore
parents/guardians may assist the school by making sure their child is
wearing the required clothing before he/she leaves home everyday. Dress
code applies to the school day and all school sponsored events, drama
presentations, dances, and on site events, field trips, and off campus
events at which the students represent Rogersville City School. Rogersville
City School has established a dress code that gives families flexibility in
the way their child dresses. Adherence to this established policy
eliminates the need to explore the school uniform issue.

SPECIAL DAYS DRESS CODE- On several days during the year, the
students will be allowed to attend school without following the dress code:
HAT DAY, PAJAMA DAY, SPIRIT DAY, ETC. SPECIAL GUIDELINES WILL BE SENT HOME
ON THESE DAYS.
