Work experience:
I taught Kindergarten At Hawkins Elem. '79-'89 and then transferred
to Rogersville Middle School and taught Title I Reading 5th-8th
grades.
Went to Church Hill Middle School as Assistant Principal in
October '93 and then was hired to teach Kindergarten at RCS in August
of '96.
Personal Information:
I am married to Donnie "Rosy" Gillenwater who is a self-employed carpenter.
We have one daughter, Maggie, age 13, who is an 8th grader at RCS. We
also have a big, gray, striped tom cat--Oliver Thomas, who guards our home
and its contents...
We are members at First Baptist Church and I enjoy watching
Andy Griffith reruns (black and white),knitting, storytelling, reading,
gardening, scrounging around yard sales/flea markets/auctions
for "treasures", playing the piano, listening to good music, and
enjoying "porch sittin'" with family and friends.
I feel that every child has a right to learn. It is my
responsibility to provide a safe, happy environment condusive to
learning and to allow my students the opportunity to explore new
things and to accomplish the goals and standards set forth by the
state curriculum. I want each child to be able to grow and do their
best in their endeavors.
